Lower Your Heating Bills With New Windows
Over the past few years, homeowners have had the ability to take advantage of Federal Energy Tax Credits on home improvements designed to lower their energy usage and monthly energy bills. Much of that support will be going away this year so what’s a homeowner to do if they’re looking to save in 2012?
Windows are one of the first places that homeowners should explore. Here at Hutch Construction, lowering heating and cooling bills is often one of the primary reasons our customers choose to replace their windows. Homeowners can save $60 a month or more!
If you’re like many homeowners in today’s economy, you may not have the disposable income to invest in replacement windows. However, current economic conditions can work in your favor. If you choose to finance, for example, interest rates are low which can mean low monthly payments. Combined with the savings you’ll receive on monthly heating and cooling costs, the initial investment is more affordable than you may think. You’ll also want to check out special offers for added savings. If you’re curious…We invite you to sign up for a free estimate. Our Sales Consultant will educate you on our many energy efficient windows that we install, provide you with a quote to replace yours, and tell you more about your financing options and how they can work for you.
If replacing ALL of your windows just isn’t in the cards, here are a few more things that we recommend to lower your heating bills this winter.
(1) Replace only your most inefficient windows and put a plan in place with your contractor to finish the job in stages.
(2) Visit Progress Energy’s “Lower My Bill Toolkit”. It’s an easy to read guide with changes that homeowners can make themselves. Often in a single day.
(3) Sign up for a Home Energy Audit. At Hutch Construction, we do them for free on doors, windows and roofing. Just fill out the free estimate form on the site and we’ll visit your home and tell you where you’re losing the most heat, how you can fix it, and what, if anything, it may cost.
(4) And finally, the easiest and quickest change you can make…Lower your thermostat! It may seem obvious, but many homeowners leave their heat on while gone for long periods during the day or forget to drop the temperature at night. This one change can make a big difference on your monthly bill.
I’m Not Looking For A Greenhouse!
The answer to one of our most commonly asked questions: “How hot do four season sunrooms REALLY get?”
Of all the questions we get from potential sunroom owners here at Hutch Construction, one is by far the most popular! “If I enclose my screen room and convert it to a sunroom, will it morph into a greenhouse or a walk-in freezer later this year?” As Laura, from Cary, put it: “I don’t want to spend all that money converting my patio room to a four season sunroom only to find that it can’t be used comfortably year round!”
For years, sunrooms have been made with aluminum and various types of windows. Many windows, like those used here at Hutch Construction, are Energy Star Certified and carry the Good Housekeeping Seal. They even qualify for the Federal Energy Tax Credit and Progress Energy rebate. But that’s only half the story. While energy efficient windows have solved much of the climate issues we’ve seen in the past, they we’re never able to make up for the aluminum frame that virtually all sunroom manufacturers and contractors use. The industry answer has been to wrap these aluminum frames with vinyl but that solved only part of the problem.
Aluminum conducts heat and cold with, or without a vinyl covering. Using composite material to build sunrooms is taking a good idea and making it even better. The composite of vinyl and wood materials offered customers a structurally sound product and greater thermal efficiency. Finally providing an answer to the climate questions we’re commonly asked.
Not only is vinyl composite structurally sound and energy efficient, it’s beautiful too! The material is maintenance free, dent resistant and will never need to be painted. It provides a seamless design so screws aren’t visible and your new sunroom will have the look and feel of having always been a part of your home! You can view some great examples of our completed vinyl composite four season sunrooms in our photo gallery, here.
Vinyl composite truly is the future and Hutch Construction is the ONLY place you’ll find it in the Raleigh area. Patio Enclosures doesn’t have it, Four Seasons Sunrooms doesn’t have it and Champion only wishes they did! Our combination of composite building materials, energy efficient windows and our product and labor warranties, have made Hutch Construction a “must” on the list of sunroom companies for Raleigh area homeowners to speak to when evaluating potential licensed contractors for their next remodeling project.
You can put us on your list, too! We’ll tell you everything you need to know about how our custom sunrooms are the best in the industry and answer all of your questions about our products, financing options, warranties and special offers without the sales pressure. Just ask!
